T’s Tinctures
What Teresa loves about Well-Rooted . . .
Teresa and Farmer Scott’s families have known each other nearly three decades. They met through their mutual church in Redmond. She loves Scott’s vision of developing the farm to be much more than a farm, but a place of education and a rare experience for children. To be outside, completely immersed in nature. A place to play in the dirt and use all their senses to have a better understanding of where, how, and when good food is grown. It is a rare experience for many of us.
A passion for Tonics and Teas . . .
As a third-generation herbalist, Teresa loves to share her insights into the distinct benefits of tonics and teas creating them both in her Powell Butte kitchen. Understanding the differences between these two can deepen one’s appreciation for their unique qualities and applications.
Teas are typically steeped in hot water for a few minutes, allowing the flavors and beneficial compounds to infuse the water. They can be served hot or cold, sweetened or unsweetened, depending on preference.
Tonics are typically consumed for their health benefits. They are designed to support the body’s systems, providing nourishment and balance. Unlike teas, which are often enjoyed for their flavor and relaxing qualities, tonics are more about wellness and vitality.
Tonics require a longer infusion time to fully extract the beneficial compounds from the ingredients. They can be consumed daily or as needed to support specific health needs.
Teresa’s holistic approach aims to inspire a lifelong appreciation for nature and mindfulness regarding the foods and beverages we consume.
